Dave Council |
Hi
My name is Dave B. Council. Just call me Dave. I would like to tell you a
little about myself. I was born and raised in Memphis. As a child, my life
was filled with coping with Physical Therapy as a result of partial Cerebral
Palsy. I am forever grateful for my parent's perseverence and love through
those times. My brother and sister were always giving of themselves as well,
growing up.
I believe the Lord had a plan for me to praise and worship Him. However, as I
progressed into my teenage years, there were many times in which I tried
everything to gain happiness. Finally, the Holy Spirit convinced me that I
needed Jesus. At that time I surrendered my heart and life over to Him.
Although my life has not always been a bed of roses, Jesus has never left my
side. There is great peace, security, and inner joy knowing Him.
For many years I have served in several churches as a volunteer and part-time
minister of music in the West Tennessee area. Also, I have taken part in
singing for several local southern gospel singing groups as well. Later, I
felt the call to be a minister. The Lord opened many doors of service to
pastor several churches in the area part-time.
My disability through the years has caused me to have to give up my part-time
pastoral ministry, although I held my last position for almost seven years.
In that time I served as a volunteer chaplain for three years for the
Dyersburg Police Department. I have been disabled from secular public work for eleven years.
I am so grateful for the honor of God allowing me to become a part of
THERE'S HOPE and BJ MINISTRIES. I feel like we are a family as a group. The
Lord has chosen us to make a difference in people's lives. My wife, Joan,
and two-teenage daughters, Kimberly and Lisa, take a very active part in this
ministry as well. I am so glad to be back in gospel music. We have a message
of Hope and Love in Jesus that we want to bring to the world. Thank you for
letting me share a part of my life with you. God Bless You.
Sincerely,
Dave
