Timber-Lee Cardamom Bread Recipe

this is especially for all your Swedish people, by birth or desire. Recipe courtesy Timber-Lee Christian Center

  • Scald 3/4 cup milk, let cool.
  • Add 2 pkg dry yeast to 1/2 cup very warm water, let bubble Stir together 2/3 cup sugar , milk and yeast mixture.
  • Beat in 2 cups flour
  • Add 1/2 cup melted butter,2 eggs, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon ground cardamon.
  • Beat for 3 minutes with mixer.
  • Stir in 3 more cups of flour.
  • Knead for 5 minutes, or until dough ball is smooth.
  • Place in oiled bowl, cover, let rise for 1 1/2 hours Knead lightly, let rise 3/4 hour.
  • Divide dough into 2 balls, then divide each dough ball into 3 sections.
  • Form each section into a 12" long rope, then braid the 3 ropes together.
  • Tuck under the ends and fit into greased bread pans.
  • Let rise until full sized, brush with milk, sprinkle with sugar on top, Bake at 350 degrees for 25 - 35 minutes. Cover with foil for last 15 minutes to keep from browning too fast. Watch very closely as all ovens are not the same.
