STEAMING SPICED CIDER

This is especially good on cold nippy evenings, to just "sip". I usually keep a pot going, at this time of the year when I am having guest in. I can usually find them at the "hot pot", helping themselves to "refills". This is a nice nectar to enjoy after being out in the cold.

In a large pot, combine 2 gallons apple cider, 3-4 cinnamon sticks, 40 or so whole cloves, and 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, brown sugar or honey to your taste; bring to a boil. Simmer for 15 minutes. Stir in 2 cups fresh orange juice, 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice, and the peel from 1 orange, cut into strips. An optional addition of 1 cup of cranberry juice adds a very pleasing flavor. Add water to make 9 quarts. Serve in glass or ornamental cups with a cinnamon stick added to each.
